The program, now in its third year, aims to support machine learning researchers from underrepresented groups as they pursue new scientific discoveries and academic opportunities.

Eight UMIACS faculty will participate in the workshop, offering expertise and knowledge in a team-based setting that provides a positive intellectual, social and emotional environment.

UMD’s commitment to CSforALL will include workshops and summer camps for young people—focused mostly on those who identify as female or non-binary and/or Black, Latinx, or Native American—in the Washington, D.C., and Maryland region.

Resnik was specifically noted for his significant contributions to symbolic-statistical methods for natural language processing, multilinguality and the interdisciplinary study of language.

The investment completes a financing round of more than $3.5 million for the University of Maryland-affiliated company developing spatial and personalized audio solutions.

She is being recognized for her contributions to data management, information integration and data mining.
