Vishkin Leads Steering Committee for ACM Symposium on Parallelism in Algorithms and Architecture

Jul 24, 2020

Uzi Vishkin, a professor of electrical and computer engineering with an appointment in the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies, was recently elected chair of the steering committee for the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Symposium on Parallelism in Algorithms and Architecture.

The annual symposium, held virtually in 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, brings together experts from around the world to discuss the latest topics in parallel computing and distributed computing.

During his four-year term (2020–2024) as chair, Vishkin will be the main point of contact for interactions with related conferences and workshops, as well as other activities in ACM and other professional organizations. He will also lead the symposium’s efforts in identifying and acknowledging long-term impact awards that are focused on parallel computing and distributed computing.
