The University of Maryland Center for Machine Learning is launching a weekly seminar series starting Monday, August 26.

The researchers received a New Directions award from the Division of Research, specifically for UMD faculty pursuing a new line of research.

UMD has been recognized for its robust research and scholarship in cybersecurity.

The researchers will continue to develop next-generation cryptography protocols.

Goel is one of three speakers chosen to present their work this fall at the University of Maryland as part of the Rising Stars in Machine Learning initiative.

Hicks helped lead a team of researchers to victory in the National Security Agency’s 7th Annual Best Scientific Cybersecurity Paper Competition.

It is considered the highest and most prestigious honor in the field of computer visualization.

The Council was created by the Maryland General Assembly in 2015 and is charged with reviewing the state’s cyber readiness and developing a comprehensive plan to respond to and recover from attacks.

The award is bestowed annually to a researcher whose doctoral thesis makes advances in a disciplinary area that has an interdisciplinary angle.

The two-year positions offer an opportunity to work closely with faculty and graduate students in the cybersecurity center.
