Julia Mendelsohn is an assistant professor in the College of Information and the Department of Government and Politics with an appointment in the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies.
Her research focuses on the intersection of language, politics, and computation, drawing from natural language processing, political communication, sociolinguistics, and psychology. Mendelsohn is particularly interested in computationally modeling subtle rhetoric in online political discussions and examining the social, political and technological implications of such language.
