Oct 28, 2013

Computer science doctoral students Jay Pujara and Hui Miao, with their adviser Lise Getoor and William Cohen from Carnegie Mellon University, won the Best Student Paper Award at the 12th International Semantic Web Conference held in Sydney, Australia in October.

Their paper describes how a knowledge graph can be inferred from text and background knowledge using a highly scalable probabilistic reasoning system called probabilistic soft logic. The team validated their results on data used in the Never Ending Language Learner (NELL) project from Carnegie Mellon.
