Biography: 

Yi-Kai Liu is co-director of the Joint Center for Quantum Information and Computer Science (QuICS) and an adjunct associate professor in UMIACS. He is also a staff scientist in the Applied and Computational Mathematics Division at NIST.

Liu's research centers on quantum computation and theoretical computer science, in particular, quantum algorithms and complexity, quantum state tomography, machine learning, and quantum cryptography.

He received his doctorate in computer science from UC, San Diego in 2007.
