Brantley Hall will join the Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics in July 2020. He will also have an appointment in UMIACS.

Hall is currently a Merck Fellow of the Helen Hay Whitney Postdoctoral Foundation at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT as well as the Center for Computational and Integrative Biology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

His research combines bioinformatics, microbiology, and genetics to unravel the complexities of the human gut microbiome.

Hall received his doctorate in genetics, bioinformatics and computational biology from Virginia Tech in 2016.
