Biography: 

Vibha Sazawal is a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and a visiting research scientist in the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS).

Her research is in human computer interaction with applications in neurodiversity, teaching programming, and aiding people with autism.

In 2016, Sazawal developed the app Floreo, a virtual reality app that allows people with developmental disabilities to safely practice being in dicey social situations, like police stops, which can confuse and startle them.

She is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery.

Sazawal received her doctorate in computer science and engineering from the University of Washington.
