CHOBE is ....
CHOBE is a place that does not disappoint and is always
worth a visit. This was our third visit and we saw the highest
density of wildlife ever. It is hard to describe the scene when 500-1000
elephants rush to the river in the afternoon. The density is simply incredible.
All other animals were in higher density than usual and even lions could be
observed on daily basis.
The highlight was a leopard that was
protecting a kill he stored in a bush, and only in the late afternoon did he
drag it to the nearest tree and pulled it up.
The only negative is the increase in tourists
(both self-drive and guided). At one Lion sighting (and the leopard as well) we
counted at least 17 vehicles, which is quite unusual. The camp site in Ihaha
that accommodates 10 groups had about 20!
In summary, Chobe is highly recommended despite the increase in
tourists and the occasional crowding that results at the camp and on some of the
tracks.
