Bwabwata is ....

A new park in the Western Caprivi area in Namibia. It fits well in the grand plan of the Peace Park that will span the Zambezi-Kavango river basins. It is an Okavango-like swamp with forests. It substituted for Mamili Park which was to closed due to complete flooding. As it turned out, other safari groups faced the same choice and as a result the park was more crowded than expected (about 10 camping groups whereas typically less than handful visit). As a result we cut our stay short and headed for Chobe.

In summary, the park makes for a nice stopover and is certainly cheaper alternative to Okavango-Botswana although it is not at the same level. One issue to consider is that the camp is about 20KM from the main road if you want to use it for overnight stop.
