Mikindani village provides wonderful scuba-diving in Mnazi Bay-Ruvuma Marine Park. We stayed at 10 degrees South, and with the guidance of Sharon of ECO2 had wonderful diving.

The Kilwa region has a long and impressive history controlling trade on the East African coast.  The ruins at Kilwa Kisiwani are impressive indeed. Moreover, the wandering on the island among the villagers allows interaction as well as observing the houses, farms and general life style. 

We camped at Kilwa Seaview Reseort (highly recommended) at Kilwa Masoko and hired a motor-boat for the few hour visit to Kisiwani.
