As of March 2011 I am a senior scientist at Nokia Research Center, Palo Alto, CA conducting research on computational photography and spatial technologies. Previously I was project manager at Siemens Corporate Research, Princeton, NJ, conducting research and product development in the area of real time computer vision for various Siemens operating companies. My work has been used within several video surveillance applications marketed by Siemens Building Technologies.
I obtained a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2004 under the guidance of Prof. Rama Chellappa . As part of my dissertation, I devised view-invariant representations for human action recognition and pose estimation. During my Ph.D. studies, I was simultaneously working full-time as a senior member of technical staff at Hughes Network Systems, leading software development projects in the satellite telecommunications field. I have a Masters in Computer Science, also from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Prior to entering computer science, I was in the field of Aerospace Engineering working on helicopter blade vortex interactions and indicial aerodynamics. I have a Masters in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Bachelor of Technology in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
I have been on the program committees of several top tier computer vision conferences, a referee for top computer vision journals, and represented Siemens on the American Public Transportation Association's Technical Standards Working Group 1 subcommittee
