Academic background

In January 2008, Saif successfully defended his doctoral thesis, "Measuring Semantic Distance using Distributional Profiles of Concepts", in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, at the University of Toronto. Saif received his masters in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota under the guidance of Dr. Ted Pedersen. Read more about his master's thesis, "Combining Lexical and Syntactic Features for Supervised Word Sense Disambiguation", here.

His bachelor's degree is in Electronics Engineering from Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, University of Pune. He worked briefly at the TATA Consultancy Services (TCS), as an Assistant Systems Engineer, immediately after his undergraduate degree.

Saif's interests include tennis, hiking, biking, board games, ping-pong, and skiing. He enjoys traveling to new places and meeting people with diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
