Academic and professional background

In January 2008, Saif successfully defended his doctoral thesis, "Measuring Semantic Distance using Distributional Profiles of Concepts", in Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, at the University of Toronto. His bachelor's degree is in Electronics Engineering from Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, University of Pune. He worked briefly at the TATA Consultancy Services (TCS), as an Assistant Systems Engineer, immediately after his undergraduate degree.

Saif's interests include hiking, biking, canoeing, ping-pong, Scrabble, and ice skating. He enjoys traveling to new places and meeting people with diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
