AITS Unix Cluster Machines

The top-level machine for access to the cluster is dc.umd.edu; that is, logging in (via telnet, rlogin, ssh, etc.) to dc.umd.edu will actually put you onto one of the cluster machines listed below. You can find out what machine you're actually on by using the command uname -a once you've logged in.

The cluster machines are as follows:

          Alpha Systems
          --------------

          frost.umd.edu
          holmes.umd.edu
          koko.umd.edu
          maigret.umd.edu
          marlowe.umd.edu
          marple.umd.edu
          morse.umd.edu
          poirot.umd.edu
          tracy.umd.edu
          wolfe.umd.edu
Reminder: all mail sent to the cluster should be addressed to login-id@umd5.umd.edu (which is the address that is placed on all outgoing cluster mail). Mail sent in this manner can be read from any cluster system. The machine known as umd5.umd.edu is also part of the cluster but acts as a server for the cluster. DO NOT USE UMD5 for anything other than your EMAIL address. Never login to umd5.
