Assignment 1
The goal of this assignment is to gain some experience doing
e-discovery searches. This will expose you to a collection of
documents released through a discovery-like process (in this case a
regulatory request from the Federal Energy Management Commission) and
to a representative complaint and production request. We will also
use the results during our discussion of how search results are
evaluated.
The assignment is to search the advanced search interface of the CASEportal
search tool to find documents that are relevant to TREC
topic 301, which was used in the 2010 Interactive task of the TREC
Legal Track. You can find instructions on the relevance assessment
process on the TREC Legal
Track Web page.
Please send the instructors a list of 10 relevant documents.
