Tony Bath Memorial - Big Battle DBA Doubles at Historicon 2008

I ran the Tony Bath Memorial Big Battle DBA Doubles tournament as part of the "DBA at Historicon 2008" program during Historicon (July 24-27, 2008) at Lancaster, PA.

36 total players participated on 18 different teams in the world's premier Big Battle DBA event. The Tony Bath Memorial has been held at Historicon every year since 2001 (shortly after the release of the DBA 2.0 rules). The DBA 2.0 rules formalized the Big Battle DBA ruleset and brought Phil Barker's vision for large size DBA games to the masses.

For eight years, Big Battle DBA has continued to provide a nice format for team play and a more social approach to DBA gaming at the big East Cons! This year's event started with a group round (3 groups of 4 teams in round robin play and a group of 6 teams in swiss chess-like play). After the group stage, the top team in each group advanced to compete in a single elimination semi-final and final round matches to determine the winning team.

Thanks to all of the participants for such a wonderful turnout, and all of the excellent play. Hope to see you at Fall In! 2008 for some more Big Battle DBA!

Unfortunately, Jack and Peter needed to leave early because of a family emergency. There was a lot of concern amongst the group about their situation. Rest assured that Jack and Peter are okay. Sadly, Jack lost a dear friend Friday morning. He and his family are in our thoughts and prayers.
