My responsibilities (and how to get help) with UMIACS include:
-
Facilities Issues
--if you need immediate help, call Work Control at x52222. This number will get you to someone who can resolve
temperature issues, flooding problems, burned out light bulbs; minor issues that impact you or the building we work in.
--if you have bigger facilities issues--construction, renovation, new
outlets --these need to go on a work order and you will need to email me
the information (and provide an FRS to charge) or come see me.
- Phone issues
--if you have problems with your phone working, or your voice mail, or what
comes up on your display, I am the person to notify. I am the UMIACS
DTR (Department Telecommunications Representative) and handle
contact with NTS (Network and Telecommunications Services).
--I also am the department contact for several of our cell phone contracts,
and many of them go through my credit card. This makes me the person
to contact if you have questions about your cell phone and UMIACS is paying
for it.
- Web updates
--I work with the Staff to maintain the
UMIACS home page.
- Keys
--I am the keeper of all the physical keys, both for doors and furniture.
If you need keycard access, contact Edna[at]umiacs.umd.edu.
- Supply Orders
--I order everything from paperclips to toner to coffee and cups. If
you need an office supply, please send me email. I usually have a good
idea where in the supply room something is if we have it, and will place the
order if we don't.
- Department Purchasing
--I am also the primary purchasing contact. I do
most of the credit card orders, master orders, and long requisitions.
If you want to buy something, I am the person to see! If it is
computer related, it should first be approved by the technical staff;
staff[at]umiacs.umd.edu.
- Proposal support
- Presentations for
Dr. Rita R. Colwell. If you are looking for a presentation, they
can be found here.
- Newsletter editing and layout
--the UMIACS newsletter was done twice a year. For back copies look
here.
- I am also pretty good at figuring out who to contact if I don't know an answer, and solving the many mysteries of the University. If you have some other
question
not
listed above, please feel free to ask!
