Using lpr to print on CS printers from UMIACS machines

Umiacs staff recently switched from MDQS to the LPRng system. Thus umiacs users are no longer able to print to CS printers like ps3. The only remedy is using a CS account, after tranferring the files to print there. This is a GREAT nuisance. For example, ghostview/netscape/acrobat reader/... can no longer print directly to ps3 so the user has to save the print output to a file etc....

In order to make things a little more human, the following script hopefully will suffice till the CS staff migrates to LPRng. It is actually composed of a sh script and a C-filter for filtering out the annoying lpr parameters.

Installation

After downloading make sure you ran 'make' to create the C-filter and install into a directory that is before /usr/imports/bin and /usr/local/bin in sh PATH. I use ~/bin but your configuration may vary. I suggest changing the CS host from toblerone to something else so that the load is balanced (hopefully!)
