LBSC 690 - Information Technology
Assignment 4
The Web is full of information, but you need to dig to find useful information.
For this week's assignment, you need to locate a handful useful online resources
about multimedia, and create a web page with minimum 5 links to store the best
online multimedia resources that you have found. For each resource selected, you
need to give a short description about the content of the resource, and your
judgment of the resource (i.e., why you think it is one of the best sites). The Web page
should contain links to at least one of the following five types of
resources:
- A lecture video of our class. You can find these videos from our
class page or at Dr
Oard's section 0101 page.
Your page must point directly to the video, not to the syllabus page.
- An audio greeting in your own voice. The audio greeting should not play
automatically, rather, it should be played when the user selects to hear the
greeting. You may record the greeting any way that you like, but Windows XP
contains a sound recorder that is suitable fort this task (Start->All
Programs->Accessories->Entertainment->Sound Recorder). You can find a
sample audio file made by Dr Oard.
- A link to a tutorial that explains how JPEG or MP3 really works. The trick
here is to find a tutorial that provides a useful degree of insight without
getting lost in math. Your goal should be to find an explanation that you
think you and your classmates would really find useful.
- A cartoon that contains a donkey found using Google Image Search
(http://www.google.com, select Images"). Your page must include the cartoon as an
inline image, not just as a clickable link to the image.
- An audio interview with an Apollo astronaut that you found using http://speechbot.research.compaq.com/.
Your link should go directly to the audio, not to SpeechBot.
Once you
finish the web page, if you did not build your own personal page based on last
assignment, create an index.html file (you can simply copy your
690.html file if you like) and add a link to your personal page to point to your multimedia
page. Otherwise, just put a link in your personal page to point to your
multimedia page. Please email the URL of your multimedia page to your TA before
the class session at which this is due.
As always, you may use any tools that you find useful e.g., HTML editors,
search engines,. ...) when designing this page.
