We spend a lot of time watching what other people do with computers. Below are examples from our "contextual inquiry" notebooks. Kids watched for 15 minutes 10 adults who had never used a "tamagachi" or "gigapet." Kids then asked their adult users questions about what they liked and didn't like about this new technology.

What we concluded from this contextual inquiry session was that everyone has a hard time using technology they've never seen before.
