Video mosaicing

We propose algorithms to stabilize and mosaic low resolution aerial images. The primary contribution is the experimentally verified results that the intensity based alignment between two images can be achieved by registering a small subset of salient pixels within the images. We illustrate that comparable registration accuracies can be obtained whether we use all pixels for registration, or just a subset of salient pixels.

 

We also propose algorithms for registering aerial sequences using additional metadata (telemetry measurements) along with the sequence. Using telemetry measurements, we can convert each image into the fronto-parallel view, thereby registering long sequences with minimal projective distortion.
