The Monastery Of Ravanica
(in the vicinity of Chuprija)
The Church of the Ascension was founded by Prince Lazar, and built around
the eighth decade of the fourteenth century in the style of the Morava
school: a term which refers to monasteries built in the region surrounding
the Morava River in Serbia. It has a trefoil plan, one central dome with
four surrounding domes, and a richly patterned facade. The frescoes of this
church, in the decorative style, are of a heightened and delicate sensibility.
