Montenegro

Montenegro, in which the famous "Annals Of Father Dukljanin" were written (as believed in the 11th century in Bar) and in which the well-known "The Gospel Book of Prince Miroslav" was also written (in Bijelo Polje in the 12th century) waited for centuries to have the first, authentic, indeed genius epic written about itself-the "Gorski Vijenac" by one of the greatest Montenegrin poets, bishop and ruler of Montenegro Petar II Petrovich Njegosh (1813-1851), who in his lyric-epic work describe the heroism of his people and their aspiration to freedom. The first books of South Slavs were published in Montenegro in the Crnojevich family printing house.

Although small in area, this republic has a varied relief map, and can be divided into several regions. In the mountains there are regions of exceptional scenic beauty which have been proclaimed national parks:

Durmitor with 16 Lakes five rivers and six canyons, and the Biogradska Gora park. The canyons of some of the rivers of Montenegro, Tara, Moracca i Piva are among the deepest in the world (up to 1,200m)

Montenegro hosts a surprising variety of natural beauty. It is difficult not to be amazed in front of stunning changes which occur at frequent intervals in the landscape. Hence probably the fantastic and inspired descriptions of Montenegro. Nature is harsh and gentle.

Along the riviera you will find the sandy beaches, the gradual falling away of the sea-bed, the rich Mediterranean vegetation and the sunshine. It all amount to a great advantages for the tourist industry. There are flourishing cities such as Sveti Stefan , Herceg Novi , Kotor , Budva , Perast , etc.

Nature of Montenegro is gentle, because the landscape is mild and rich in small shapes, in variety, in the beauty of the sea, of the lakes, of the woods with their clearings; here you feel friendship for the Mediterranean and the spell cast by this mountainous landscape.
