Bio

I'm a PhD student in the Department of Electrical Engineering at University of Maryland College Park. My advisor is Professor Rama Chellappa. I'm an RA in the Center for Automation Research (CfAR). Before coming here in the fall of 2000, I graduated from Karnataka Regional Engineering College, Surathkal, India (now known as National Institute of Technology).

If you want to know more (can't imagine why!), read on...

Once upon a time (1978 actually), my first cry was heard in Mysore (and the crying didn't stop for another year, as the legend goes!). Mysore is a town in South India, known for its palaces and Dasara celebrations (in the month of October) and the like. But to me, Mysore evokes memories of morning walks with my grandfather to see the 'kempu bus', the evening trips to the rail museum (if you are visiting Mysore, I highly recommend the museum!) and goodies from Shyam Rao bakery... Good times.. Good times..

Grew up in the garden city of Bangalore (Bangaloreans should know the importance of gardens and lung spaces... The air pollution these days is simply unreal!). Our (as in my parents, my brother and I) base is in T.R. Nagar in South Bangalore. In case you're wondering why I'm throwing around all these names of places not-so-subtly,  one of the reasons.. To increase visibility on Google. Will it work? Your guess is as good as mine!

Attended Kumarans school.. It was a lot of fun there! (I know.. I know.. saying school's fun probably makes me a geek). After that, a 2 year stint in National College, Jayanagar for my pre-university classes. Bidding adieu to Bangalore, I boarded the bus to Surathkal in 1996. Cut to four years later, I boarded the plane to Washington Dulles which takes us to the first paragraph in this page!
