I am Balaji Vasan. I am currently working towards my Masters in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering majoring in Communication and Signal Processing. I am working as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Perceptual Interfaces and Reality Lab and UMIACS under Dr. Ramani Duraiswami. I will be starting my Doctoral Studies in the Department of Computer Science from Spring 2009 under Dr. Ramani Duraiswami. I did my Bachelors degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University, Chennai and graduated in July 2006.

I am currently working on non-parametric modelling using Gaussian Process Regression with applications to particle filtering, state estimation and statistical downscaling. My research interests are in machine learning and fast computations. I have had experience in working on image processing, control systems and power electronics.
