The OASYS, Opinion Analysis System from UMIACS, developed by VS Subrahmanian, his students, Bonnie Dorr, and collaborators from the University of Naples, is one of the ten award-winning technologies for Computerworlds' 2006 Horizon Awards.

The Department of Defense (Air Force Office of Scientific Research) has awarded a five year, $6 million dollar contract to develop a CARA: A Cognitive Architecture for Adversarial Reasoning. The PIs are Dana Nau and V.S. Subrahmanian, while key personnel also include Michael Fu, Lise Getoor, Phil Resnik, and Jon Wilkenfeld. UMD faculty will focus on the development of software platforms and algorithms to express and learn about the behaviors of different cultural groups around the world.

Tsz-Chiu Au's computer program placed 3rd in the 20th Anniversary Iterated Prisoner's Dilemma Competition's "Noise" category---best performer among programs that had no "slave" programs feeding points to them.
