Abstract

This paper discusses the constitutive relations, surface catalytic model,and numerical methods for direct numerical simulation (DNS) of wall-
bounded turbulence including finite-rate chemistry and gas-surface in-
teraction. The validation of the code is provided for the mean flow by
comparison to similarity solutions and laminar hypersonic boundary layer
solutions, for the surface catalysis by comparison to analytic solutions for
the one-dimensional diffusion-reaction equation, and for turbulent bound-
ary layers by comparison to empirical predictions.
