Biography:

Naomi Feldman is an associate professor in the Department of Linguistics and director of the Computational Linguistics and Information Processing (CLIP) Laboratory.

Feldman’s research focuses on the computational strategies that allow humans to learn and use language, asking how learners acquire linguistic structure in unsupervised settings and how they use this knowledge to extract information in real-time from the speech they hear.

In 2013, she received a research grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for her research project “Integrating low-level speech features into a model of speech perception.” Feldman spent spring 2014 as a visiting assistant professor at the Center for Language and Speech Processing at Johns Hopkins University, where she learned techniques that she applied to her NSF research grant.

She received her doctorate in cognitive science from Brown University in 2011.
